Mark writes: From the little I know, BOMARC GAT sites had two towers, from the photos on Radomes.org they all seem to have two steel towers; however, Otis had one steel tower and one concrete tower (see attached). Why? Does anyone have a photo or diagram what a BOMARC GAT had on top of the tower?
Editor's Note: The Otis AFB BOMARC Missile GAT Site indeed did have two towers originally, as evidenced by the 1966 "Historic Aerials" image. Sometime after the GAT Site was deactivated (after the missile facility converted from Model 'A' to Model 'B,' circa 1963), one steel tower was removed. Also sometime after GAT Site deactivation, that concrete pedestal was added, possibly to support some type of tracking antenna (purpose unknown). -- T.E.P.

Ron writes: I did not recall seeing any remaining support buildings, as a lot of tracked vehicles are parked where they were located between the road and the shelters. On the north (right) side, photo #13 is the first row, while photo #15 shows several rows and (I think) the two different shelter designs. At the moment I can`t find my guides to types I thru IV.
It appears that demolition began on the south (left) side, where no shelters remain (photos #14 & 16).

The BOMARC complex is roughly a quarter mile north of the Sandwich Gate entrance to Otis ANGB. That is, after entering through the Sandwich Gate on the east side of the base (off MA Rte 130), turn right on the first road; the BOMARC site is straight ahead and on the left (west).
Missile-assembly building (looking northeast). Appeared to be completely vacant.
Gateway into the former missile launch area (looking southwest).
Some of the BOMARC missile shelters -- these appear to have been for the 'A' model missiles, as somewhat newer-looking (i.e., less-rusty)) structures were seen on rows further back. [Looking west.]
A close-up view of one of the BOMARC missile shelters.
A row of former BOMARC missile shelters (looking northwest).
Some more of the BOMARC missile shelters -- these appear to have been for the 'B' model missiles, as they appeared to be somewhat newer-looking.
