Recent Photos of San Clemente Island AFS, CA

The radar site`s old Air Force Radar Operations building / Navy Photo Lab (now neither). The view appears to be to the southwest. The old diesel power plant is on the left (east), and the Radar Operations building is on the right and in the center. None of the three radar towers are still extant, but the AN/FPS-8 search radar tower would have stood in the center of this picture between the two buildings, and the AN/FPS-6 height-finder tower would have stood to the far right on the other side of the Ops building. The AN/FPS-3 search radar tower would have stood out of this view, to the far left.
