Figure 1 shows view of the radome being dimantled at Baker AFS, OR. Using imagination an ingenuity,
the Payette Idaho Public School Board conceived its potential fo ruse as a gymnasium
unit in its new school plant.
After being dismantled, the dome was moved to Payette where concrete footings were
poured and the rebuilding was begun. Figure 2 shows the initial reconstruction.
Figure 3 shows the progression of the beam structure as the reassembly continues.
Figure 4 is a view of men working in the high-ranger bucket. The high-ranger was used by the men working
on the dome to rebuild the beam structure and is now being used to re-cover it with fiberglass
panels.
Figure 5 shows the beam structure has progressed to the point where the shape is
becoming more dome like. The dome has a diameter of 160 feet. (Note: the North American
Aviation, Inc. technical specs show the diameter as 150 feet - Ed.)
Figure 6 shows a view from inside the come as it is being recovered with fiberglass
panels. In the background is the present junior high school, that will becoma a part of the new
high school complex when the work is completed.
