I was in USAF, 33rd Air Division, from 1953 to early 1957. This was during the Korean Conflict years. I had the honor to serve with some wonderful people during that
time. The Air Force prepared me for life and a career, not to mention having the GI BILL to use later in life. I am doing work now as a contractor supporting the FAA Radar facilities, and air traffic control system and many of the old DOD radar sites are now part of the FAA Air Traffic control system.

Good luck and God bless all the former USAF troops still on this earth.

The 903rd AC&W Sq. of Gettysburg,S.D. was active from 1955 to 1968...when it was closed and the base housing sent to Eagle Butte in 1968 to help with a tribal housing shortage radar tower is still being used by the FAA. The 903rd had reunioins in 1997 & 2001...chaired by Bernie Webb...then reunions in 2005 & 2010 chaired by Dick Roue.Bernie Webb also played for the 903rd Indy mens baseball and basketball teams in the 1958 & 1959 seasons as a center-fielder and guard. Am still looking for basketball and baseball pictures taken of the 903rd team during 1958 & 1959. Bernie Webb was assigned 6-1-1960 to 6-1-1961 to the remote-isolated 926th AC&W Sq. at Iqaluit (then Frobisher Bay) in the NE corner of Canada and North America. The 926th was closed down Nov.1,1961 and the site then de-constructed. The regions's Inuit people have a 8600 foot by 200 foot large runway and large ramps that remains a vital asset since there are no roads out of Iqaluit in any direction.

Now on e-Bay, unrelated to me in any way whatsoever: 1956 Press Photo Gap Filler Radar, item no.: 260829269568. One striper taking readings off of some large device. Seller has some more at his store, most far, far before my time in the 1970s so I am unsure what much of it is. If anyone knows what part of the gap-filler the guy is posed looking at, I would be interested. Never saw one. Heard about them. That was it.
