I had the honor to serve with some wonderful people during that 08/25/2011 00:00:00 Name: RUTH BAXTER DUBOSE come on guys. there has to besomeone out here who recalls tomschaefer of the 616th. he played forward for the preising panthers. he was great oin that wooden floor, him and jim canterburt. jim was from jersey city. does anyone know where tom was from? i have been looking for him for 50 years. i dont know what he did with the 616th. he was always driving that VW bus up and down prinz ludwig strasse to and from the site. is there anyone out there who has photos of the freising panthers could i get some copies. i hope tom and jim will be in there. please. let me hear from anyone who was back in those great days. they were the best. to anyone who can help rekindle those great memories, i say thank you so much. opnce youve been raused in the air force,rhats all you know. you just cant let go. thanks again. Now 33 years later I am USAF Retired living in McHenry, IL. 08/24/2011 00:00:00 Name: Tom nawa 861st sq 1956 /60 great people to work with 08/21/2011 00:00:00 Name: Robert Tolley Stationed at Almaden AFS, CA, May 63 to July 65. 08/19/2011 00:00:00 Name: Bernie Webb The 903rd AC&W Sq. of Gettysburg,S.D. was active from 1955 to 1968...when it was closed and the base housing sent to Eagle Butte in 1968 to help with a tribal housing shortage then...one radar tower is still being used by the FAA. The 903rd had reunioins in 1997 & 2001...chaired by Bernie Webb...then reunions in 2005 & 2010 chaired by Dick Roue.Bernie Webb also played for the 903rd Indy mens baseball and basketball teams in the 1958 & 1959 seasons as a center-fielder and guard. Am still looking for basketball and baseball pictures taken of the 903rd team during 1958 & 1959. Bernie Webb was assigned 6-1-1960 to 6-1-1961 to the remote-isolated 926th AC&W Sq. at Iqaluit (then Frobisher Bay) in the NE corner of Canada and North America. The 926th was closed down Nov.1,1961 and the site then de-constructed. One striper taking readings off of some large device. Seller has some more at his store, most far, far before my time in the 1970s so I am unsure what much of it is. If anyone knows what part of the gap-filler the guy is posed looking at, I would be interested. Never saw one. Heard about them.
