Site History and Findings of Fact
The site was built in 1953, and transferred to the Michigan Air National Guard in 1959.
On Feb 1966 a new lease was entered into between the USAF and the county of Alpena, with the .36-acre of land designated for exclusive use by the ANG.
The radar tower had been removed, and the ops building renovated for alternate military usage.
The ANG facility is known as Phelps Collins, Michigan Air National Guard base.
