Site History and Findings of Fact
The former Antigo Air Force station is located in the northeast corner of Marathon County. The land in the vicinity of the site is predominantly agricultural, interspersed with residences. The former Antigo Air Force Station containment area consists of 43.22 acres with an additional 13.81 acres of easements. The area in which the majority of the buildings are located is relatively flat, with the grassed areas in the southern portion of the property sloping off to the southeast.
The land was acquired by DOD through a civil action filed May 9, 1956, and was used as an Air Force radar station until its closure in the late 1970`s.
GSA reported the property excess 28 December, 1979, and on March 20, 1981 the land and all easements were conveyed to Lendon D. Dutton by quitclaim deed. Mr. Dutton was the owner at the time the 1992 report was released.
