P-19A (Norway, MI):
I was at the location of P19-A last week, it is completely gone, most of the locals don`t even
remember it being there. There are two ski tows about where it was and a big fairly new lodge.
The roads are all new and blacktopped a far cry from what it was back in the 60`s. The fire tower
that was just down the road from the site is still there so it is fairly easy to estimate where it was.
P-19B (Two Creeks, WI):
Coming down the access rode, it curves to the West for a short distance and then back South
there is a Rundown mobile home park there now, most of the trailers look to be abandoned.
Going past the trailers to the West you come to a turn around loop, go a little farther South from
the loop and a little bit West you can see the concrete block building that housed the radar
FPS-18 ser # 109 and the other equipment. The tower is gone and there is now a trailer pulled
up tight againest the West side of the building and grass and weeds are about as tall as the building.
Right accross the road from the building is a trailer that appears to be the caretakers or whatever
you might call it. There were two very unfriendly acting dogs there so I did not get out of the truck.
Stopped between this trailer and the building for a few minutes but no one came out. Did a very slow
turn around and then left, not much there to see anyway.
P-19C (Brooks, WI):
I visited P19-C Brooks, WI back in August. It is still recognizable as a Gap Filler, the tower, building
and outhouse are still there and the fence although the mesh is gone from the gate so you can just
walk right in. I took some pictures, will scan and send them or just mail them to you.
I worked on these Gap Fillers from 1962 thru 1966 left Antigo in 1968 while they were being shut down. It is a little gruesome going back now. P19-A Norway,MI had FPS-18 ser# 53, 19-B Two Creeks had FPS-18 ser# 109 and 19-C Brooks had ser# 132, for the life of me I can`t remember the ser # of the FST-1`s or the FSW-1`s, used to know them as well as my name.
