5 miles SE of Glendive, MT, with access through Makoshika State Park
Site History and Findings of Fact
The 0.39-acre site was obtained by lease and one no-area license by donation between 1957 and April 1958.
Improvements consisted of a concrete block building, sanitary latrine building, radar tower, concrete sidewalk, chain link fence, one 4,000-gallon steel underground fuel oil storage tank, and gravel parking area.
The site was designated Glendive Air Force Station TM-177A effective 1 July 1957, unmanned and remotely operated from Dickinson Air Force Station (TM-177).
On 30 September 1958, the site was redesignated as Glendive Gap Filler Annex (M-98A) and on 11 January 1960 reassigned to Miles City Air Force Station (M-98).
The site was deactivated on 1 September 1960, but could not be released for disposal until all electronic equipment was removed. The lease and no-area license were terminated on 16 October 1961.
The equipment was removed and the disposal became effective on October 17, 1961.
Dawson County, Montana, signed a Supplemental Agreement, encompassing the 0.39-acre lease and no-area license, which transferred improvements to Dawson County on 29 September 1961.
Current use at time of 1991 report
Glendive Broadcast Company used the former concrete block building for their television transmitter building. The radar tower foundation is being used to support the broadcasting company`s television tower.
