[Hanna City AFS] is located on Routh 116/Farmington Rd. just west of Hanna City.

It still remains, but the unfortunate thing is that it is in the middle of an Illinois Department of Corrections minimum security prison.

DOC converted the base into a prison. The facility where the large "golf ball" radar dome is sectioned off inside the prison and is not used. I`m not sure if it would be possible to visit inside the prison grounds. Maybe? Anyway you can sill get pretty close the grounds. Here are the directions:

From Interstate 74

As you approach the Peoria, Illinois area you need to take the Interstate 474 bybass. It can be picked up from either directions on I 74. Follow the 474 bypass until you reach the Farmington exit. This exit puts you on the Maxwell Rd. spur. When you get to the end of the spur (approximetely 1 mile) you come to a stop sign. Turn right onto Maxwell Rd. and drive approximetely 1/2 mile until you get to the stop light at Farmington Rd.

Turn left at this stop light and keep following Farmington Rd. west until you reach Hanna City. This will be about 6 miles. The facility is located about 1 mile west of Hanna City on Farmington Rd. You can`t miss it, just look for the barbed wire and large golf ball radar dome on the North side of the road.
