GATR Antenna Farm

GATR radio equipment racks. The transmitters were AN/GRT-3 and the recievers were AN/GRR-7. Typically a GATR site would have 23 single-channel radios and a time division data link radio.

Technicians make adjustments on the AN/GKA-5, Time Division Data Link equipment. This equipment received processed information from the FSQ-7 via landlines from the SAGE building at McChord. This information would then be transmitted on UHF radio to the F-101 and F-106 interceptors. The radio put out 100 watts, but if we wanted to get serious, we could kick in the 20KW AN/FRT-49 amplifier. USAF photo.
