Eureka GFA is located at the site of the lookout tower on Black Butte, west and south of the town of Eureka.

Eureka is about 20-25 miles east and a little north of Yaak. It`s also about 90 miles northwest of Kalispell on Hiway 93.

"Through the courtesy of Sen Mike Mansfield, information has been received relative to radar installations near Eureka and other places in Montana from Major General Joe W Kelley, USAF, Director, Legislative Liaison.

A radar installation for aircraft control & warning projects is scheduled for the Eureka area with the design in process; scheduled contract award, May, 1956; scheduled beneficial occupancy date, October 1956.

Sites at Lewistown and Kalispell have been recently approved and the design is scheduled for completion about June 30, 1956 with the construction contract to be advertised and awarded some time during the first quarter fiscal year of 1957. Construction requires about one year for completion.

The Brockway site design is in process with the scheduled contract award, May, 1956; scheduled beneficial occupancy date, September, 1956"
