Attached are two photos taken in 1973 at the 751st GATR site. One shows TSGT George Aichele working on the AN/GKA-5. It was a discreet TTL unit that interfaced data from the main radar site to the 10 kilowatt klystron pulsing transmitters at the GATR site. That data was sent up to the USAF fighters that patrolled the west coast.
The other shot is from the racks of UHF communications transmitters and receivers at the site. The single-channel receivers (top-most in the racks) were the GRR-7`s. The single-channel 100 watt transmitters (lower in the racks) were the GRT-3`s. They covered 30 discrete UHF channels from 225 mHz to 398 mHz. We also had two multi-channel UHF backup transmitters known as the GRC-27`s. These transmitters were used to communicate between the radar site and ADC aircraft patrolling the west coast.
