North Bend GATR - 1979
contributed by Mike Rugg
Our site vehicle was an orange Suburban. I found out why during hunting season. We
were about 1 1/2 miles off the main site out in the boonies. Our antenna transmission
cables were pressurized and when they were shot by hunters,, the compressor would
constantly stay on to compensate for lack of pressure. The antennas made for great
target practice.
PACE checks are still an important item in 1979. The radios also get checked in addition
to the radars. The article above is from SKYWATCH, July 1979.
