Findings of Fact, Site Location, and Information on Omaha AFS Z-71, based on information provided by US Army Corps of Engineers Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) document B07NE0760 of 1991

4 miles NW of Omaha, Douglas County, Nebraska

Site History and Findings of Fact

Between September 1954 and December 1961, 71.11 acres of land were acquired for the Omaha Air Force Station (Z-71). ADC utilized the site for a permanent type fixed radar installation, which was part of the Continental United States Air Force Defense Network. The site included the Ground Activated Transmitter Receiver (GATR) Facility and an off-site Communications Annex. Approximately 50 buildings were constructed on the site, which was declared excess to GSA in March 1969.

Beginning March 1969, GSA conveyed several individual parcels to individual owners:
-1.10 acres and a radar tower building to the FAA in August 14, 1969, including the electrical power station and diesel storage facility
-7.57 fee acres and two buildings to the Weather Bureau on October 21, 1969
-1.71 fee acres and easements over 0.31 acres to private party August 14, 1969
*-24.85 fee acres and nine buildings to GSA, Public Building Service on July 7, 1971

-31.20 fee acres and easements to Dept. of Health, Education and welfare, School District 1 of Omaha, Douglas County, along with 31 buildings

Several other individual parcels of varying sizes to GSA were identified in the report in relation to location: T16N, R12E Section 14, within the NE ¼
-a parcel of 58.83 acres and another of 24.48 acres* to the Construction Laborers Building Corp, 11000 N. 72 St, Omaha, NE
-7.3 acres within the NE ¼ of the NE ¼ to the Weather Bureau
