Placer Gap Filler Annex
Site Location
On King Mountain, approximately 30 miles northeast of the city of Grants Pass, Josephine County, OR. Site is located near the eastern boundary of Josephine County
Site History and Findings of Fact
A total of 58.37 acres of land were acquired for the Placer Gap Filler Annex. The acquisition process involved the transfer if land from BLM, including easement rights from the owner of the Fossil and Peter Pan Mining Claims, and access rights from The Robert Dollar Company.
A total of 33.34 acres were acquired in 1957, (0.79 acre was used as an exclusive use area by DOD), 23.65 acres were acquired in 1965 and an easement for 1.38 acres was acquired in 1962.
The site, located on King Mountain, was used by the Air Force as an unmanned radar site from 1958 to 1965. Improvements on the site included the gap filler building and other support structures, including one 4,000-gallon underground storage tank.
The 337th Fighter Group gave written notice to the 25th Air Division on 13 May 1965 declaring Placer Gap Filler Annex to be excess of their needs.
In September 1965, GSA transferred the site to BLM.

The site is now used as an antenna site
