Findings of Fact, Site Location, and Information on Willmar AFS SM-139, based on information provided by US Army Corps of Engineers Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS) document E05MN0028 OF 1994

Site Location

3 miles north of Willmar along County Road 77 and also along Ella Ave, Kandiyohi County, MN Site History and Findings of Fact Property consisted of 30.65 acres acquired between December 1954 and February 1959. It was divided into two parcels, with the 2.5 acre Housing Area lying on the south shore of Foote Lake and the 26.10 acre fee and 2.05 acre easement Operational Areas on the northwest shore of the lake. Property transfer records indicate the site consisted of 19 family housing units, 6 airmen dorms 2 officers quarters, 16 misc. support structures, and three radar towers.

The Air Force Station was excessed to GSA on August 1961, with property being conveyed to Independent School District # 347 in February 1962 and used as Willmar Community College. Clear title was given over to the school district in 1983, currently known at the time of the 1994 as Willmar Technical Institute.
