10.  Five (5) “Texas Towers” were originally planned; both Texas Tower No. 1 (TT-1) and Texas Tower No. 5 (TT-5) were not built, mainly due to budgetary concerns; ADC was promised additional on-shore radar installations in return.  The three (3) towers built and operated were Texas Tower No. 2, located on George’s Bank, about 100 miles east of Cape Cod; Texas Tower No. 3, located on Nantucket Shoal, about 100 mile southeast of Rhode Island; and the ill-fated Texas Tower No. 4 (TT-4), located on an unnamed shoal about 80 miles east of New Jersey.
