August 2004 photos & notes contributed by Gerald L Greenwood, LtCol (Ret), USAFR

Updated view of the Allen GFA. An additional tin sheet metal building has been added to the southwest corner of the facility. [Looking North-Northwest]

The taller sheet metal building is west of where the radar tower was and south of the diesel generator wing. [Lookin North]

A rear view of the facility with the added building on the right and the diesel generator portion on the left. An additional wooden brown entrance building has been added to the diesel generator portion of the building. [Looking East]

A view from the north side shows an air conditioner added to the window. [Looking South]
On the north side near the fence I noticed a green cover over a pipe extending into the ground. It may have been used as an underground storage tank. [Looking South]

The fron view shows the taller added shed on the left rear of the building. Most recently the building was used as a body shop, which has since been closed. [Looking West]

June 2001 photos by Tom Page

A view of the former Allen (NC) gap-filler radar annex as it appears today (June 2001). The building alterations since deactivation make it difficult to recognize. This is the end of the building where the radar tower used to stand (no foundations for the tower remain). [looking north-northwest]

Another view of the former Allen GFA, showing the diesel-generator wing at the rear left (west). [looking north-northeast]

A view of the old GFA facility as seen from the roadway in front of the site. The diesel-generator wing is seen at the rear right; the radar tower used to stand at the far left. [looking west-southwest] [Note: The film did not advance properly, and the far right side of this image is a double exposure.]
