This is the current configuration for Cold Bay`s AN/FPS-117 Minimally Attended Radar (MAR). The site is manned by only one person at Cold Bay, who has responsibility for all electronic maintenance required on station. I am sure you know by now that the majority of radar maintenance is done from Elmendorf AFB via satellite. I just happen to be one of those who does the maintenance. Requires a visit to a site about every 3 months for PMI`s etc... The site was moved inland 7 miles from Grant`s Point in 1984.
