FAA Regional Air Traffic Control Radar

Tucked away in a neighborhood in Apple Valley, MN - here are a couple photos of the regional air traffic control radar.

I am told that, when this was first put up, it was in a remote area with no houses nearby. There used to be a large fence around it. One of my friends told me that when he was a kid, he biked up to the fence and a guard with a gun came out.

What a contrast to now! Directly to the left of this (and I didn`t get a good angle to show this) there is a house. The house is literally next door. I`d hate to live in that house.

This radar puts out huge amounts of power in the 1 ghz area. I felt strange across the street from it, let alone living next door!
