Recent Photos of Oswegatchie GFA, NY

August 2004 photos contributed by Bob Spiers and Tom Page

On Sunday, 22 August 2004, MSgt Bob Spiers (NEADS/HO), Bernie Radigan, my daughter Jennifer, and I visited the former Oswegatchie Gap-Filler Annex on Panther Mountain. Before the visit, we were not completely sure that this was the right location; however, it did prove to be correct.

The building was observed to be still in fairly good condition, and apparently is in use as a modern-day radio facility.

The access road is unpaved; it is covered with crushed stone, is somewhat rutted, and contains a carpet of grass and weeds ... but is passable with an ordinary car until almost the top. The radar tower has been removed. Also, no fencing or fuel tank was visible.

This photo shows the south side of the GFA building, with the diesel-generator wing on the right (east). [looking northeast]

This photo shows one of the three radar-tower foundations/footings on the north end of the building. All three radar-tower foundations/footings were still extant.
