This former Ground-Air / Transmitter-Receiver (GATR) radio site is now a fire-fighting training facility.

The ex-GATR site and access road. A few radio antenna poles are still standing. The original fence is still in place, too. [looking west-northwest]

The old radio work-center building, now highly remodeled, as viewed from the smoke tower (seen on the far left side of the first photo). [looking north]
The sign out front showing the present-day users.

The 655th site is currently owned by New York State and is home to a prison. The grounds are posted so it was difficult to get any good photos. This shot is of the abandoned base housing area. In the distance and in the center is a radar tower. Partially obscured by trees is a water tower erected when the prison was built. The radar site is on top of Dry Hill, so named years ago by farmers who had difficulty obtaining water from wells they dug. That`s probably why the water tower was put up.
