Once again I make my yearly attempt to locate people who worked in the 412L weapons system in Germany. (NATO`s answer to SAGE) I worked in the Landstuhl underground facility from 1962 to 1966. It was a long time ago, but thanks to this site, there is always the chance of finding old friends. Prior to Germany served at Kirksville, MO AFS from 1960 to 1962. After Germany, Findland, MN AFS from 1966 to 1967.

My dad Joseph G. Sargent was stationed their by the DelBonita in the late 50`s till about 1960. I can`t remember exact years. My dad came for a visit July 2002 and we drove up to the base to check it out. It was neat listening to my dad explain what building was what and what they did in them. I at the time could only imagine what they looked like back then. We went through the barracks and the only tennants there are the wild animals, birds and cows that wander in. There is nothing left of the mess hall except the brick colored tiled floor which still looks like it was just put down. We went into the one dome that was left and it is an empty shell. I tried to picture the base with activity but it was to hard. Now that I have seen pictures from when it was being used I can now picture all of you that were there watching over America. Thank you to all who have served in whatever line of military you are all great men and women.

Wow! What a site. All the slide photos folks took from many moons ago..thanks for sharing them. My father was in the RCAF and radar stations were know to me, even as a kid. When we emigrated to the US - CA I marvelled at the Nike site near Agoura, CA. Anyhow..I may have something to contribute in the hear future..but would ask..is there any info on the Carribean Basin Radar Network? I haven`t had luck searching this site for it... Kind Regards, Mark Robinson USAF 1974-1978. PS> One of my duty stations was McChord where a friend was a `scope dope` at SAGE on base:)

For those of us who remember SAC... This week US Space Command officially merged with US Strateigc Command to form the `new` Strategic Command. (StratCom) It was 10 years ago when the Strategic Air Command was merged into US Strateic Command due to the Berlin Wall coming down and the end of the cold war. And the beat goes on...
