Rice Hello to all the scope dopers out there. It was Keesler in 1962-1963 and then on to Duluth IAP Sage center 1963- 1965 with alot of TDY tour to the boonies and then on to NKP, Thailand 1965-1966. Back to U.S. in Sept. 1966 and discharge. This is a great site, please keep up the good work. Jan 59 - Dec 59, 926 ACW, Frobisher Bay AFS, Frobisher Bay, Northwest Territories, Canada (Baffin Island) (600 Miles north of Goose Bay, Labrador. North of Resolution Island (another ACW site there) We were the furthest north before the Canadian sites. Aug 61 - Aug 62, 744 ACW, Murphy Dome AFS, Murphy Dome (28 miles by road from Fairbanks, Alaska). (Followed by Aug 62 to March 64, at Eielson AFB, outside Fairbanks, Alaska. Another tour in Alaska was at Kenai AFS, Kenai, Alaska. Alaska Command alternate site. (Sept 67 - Aug 69) Yes, I did like the cold - The friends I made, made it warm and convivial. Note: Going back to Fairbanks in May of 2003 to visit my Masonic Lodge, where I have not been since Feb of 1964. Tamalpias just north of San Francisco. i transferred to the 4701st AEW&C at McClellan upon activation in 1953. I attended Navy radar schools at San Diego in Dec. 1953 and the first RC-121C radar installation class at Burbank in Jan 54. I flew on the first missions out of McClellan in 1954. I was discharged as a S/Sgt in June 1955.It was a wild and wooley time with long hours of work because of lack of trained Radar Techs.Would enjoy swapping war stories with anyone of that time period. We were the `BUIC Field Group` responsible for issuing regular releases of the software for AN/GSA-51A computer system, and for considering all change requests from other BUIC III sites. My first real job, and among my most memorable. Visited the site just last week, and met a ______ Schooler (?) one told me about your organization. He now works for the FAA, but was a Blue suiter at No Truro about the time I left. Lots more to tell, but would fill many pages. Willing to share them with anyone that was there and does not have any. My tour of duty at Cape Newenham was June 1969-June 1970. Wouls like to hear from anyone that was there during that time. I hadn`t seen one for close to 30 years. Guy wanted a couple bucks for it so now it sits on my bookshelf.
