Just found your site and looking forward to being a member. I spent 18 months at the 640th AC&W Site in Stephenville, NFLD from 1968-69. This was by far my best AF assignment in my 20 years.

Thanks for all the hard work you have done to make this site available to us.

Hi All, was at Ernest Harmon AFB, Stephenville Nfld 52-55, in Administrative field, then 640 AC&W Sq at Stephenville from 59 to 64 in Radar Maintenance and again from 65 til Harmon closed in 66 and site became remote and my family and I had to go back to the States. We never before or after had a more thoroughly enjoyabe assignment than our time in that Great Province with the great Newfoundland people that lived there, just so many great and enjoyable memories of a great place. Would like to hear from anyone who was there and shares these memories. Carson

For Robert Campbell. I read your note of 7 Feb 12 about Mt Hebo AFS with great interest. The FPS-24 search radar was removed after the collapse of radome #3 in Feb 68. You were referring to the installation of the FPS-27 search radar (it came from Miles City). Do you have any photos or diagrams concerning the FPS-27 or modifications to what had been the 24 radar tower (inside or out)? Are you familiar with the radome that was installed for the FPS-27?

I was at Mt Hebo in Sep 10 at the reunion. Enjoyed my visit but could only think about what had been. In 1984 the site was demolished and returned to nature. At least the Forest Service did not allow piles of debris to remain or the skeletal remains of buildings.

It was an 80 foot tower. I Built the Clistron tube stand , tube room interlock doors, railings and a ton of brsckets all over the place.I really miss that place.
