I was a radar maintenance(30372) at point arena afs from May 1974 to jan 1976. I was one of the lucky ones that was assigned a house in downtown point arena. I enjoyed very much, but my ex hated, not enough action for her.
During my tour at point arena, I was a crew chief for awile and later was ion charge of radar scopes and trainers. I was assigned this as I took 45 days vacation so I could go to Santa rosa to attend college and get my degree.
In jan 1976 I was reassigned to the 848 AC&w squadron at Wallace AS, Phillipines, without a doubt the best remote assignment in the USAF.

Hello, I am trying to find photos of my dad(Lt. Col. Edward P. Hale USAF, 1921-2009), I thought that I saw a pic of him on the 'Cape Romanzof' web-page. Out of all the experiences he shared with me, being there is what he talked about most and he loved his dogs!! He would show me photos of them when I was a child:)

I was in the 666th at Mt Tam in 1954 and 1955 in operations as an intercept director. My work shift was rotating and I was in the crew with lieutenants McDonald and White. I have a copy of the 28th Air Division 1954 year book open and I see your picture.

I just got married before joining the 666th and lived in Mill Valley so had to carpool up the mountain road every day.

In 1952-1953 I was in the 84th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at Hamilton AFB flying in the back seat of F-89s and F-94s.

Enjoyed the duty at Hamilton and Mt Tam.

I served at the 902 Radar Squadron, Miles City, MT from 1962 until 1965. I was in Miles City for the first time in 45 years and boy has it changed. Not the town so much but the road system. I could not find the road up to the site. Now that I've done a little research on line, I think I drove right by the turnoff and didn't know it. Oh well, maybe next time.

An experience that I will never forget. Snow, cold, many days of darkness and summer with no night.
One long year. Plenty of food when the ships arrived but not so good later when the food was just turkey and chicken.
We had received a specail shipment of shrimp. The cooks forgot to thraw it out and when it was served. It looks so good until we tried to eat it. Most all of it when to the dump.Met some very nice airmen but no females.

I spent 1 year in AK between 1969 and 1970. Was at Port Poller and Cape Newingham. Lots of good memories. That when when gas was .25 per gallon and in AK it was $1 per gallon. Anyone else at those places during that time frame? I still have B/W pictures and the group picture from Port Moller.
