I was in Lake Charles La. this weekend and went out to the radar site. Everything was gone except the Ops building and it was boarded up. Real sad.

I spent 3 of my 4 USAF years at radar sites: Guthrie AFS, Pt. Arena AFS, and Blaine AFS. This is a cool site. I found a former co-worker here. I may have pictures from my Pt. Arena days. I still drive up or down CA Highway 1 when driving to San Francisco. I only wish that I had bought land back then...that 20-20 hindsight again!

Was stationed at the 773rd Montauk AFS from 1967-1970. I was assigned to the GATR site but became THE ALRI GUY and reported there daily instead of driving to the hill. Many fond memories but have lost contact with all who I served with. Played on the 68 MAFS basketball team that did very well in the eastern AF tournament at SUFFOLK AFB. Last visited MAFS in 1998 and was ashamed of the state that beautiful jewel is in. I very much would like to join Radomes and would appreciate any further information on how I could help in the efforts to save Montauk AFS. Sincerely, Bob Leahy

Happy Thanksgiving. Was remembering standing in line at the chow hall on Thanksgiving day. It wasn`t ever like home but being remote, it was better than nothing!

Echo Happy Thanksgiving to all. Feedings on Air Force Site Duty was not at all bad. Remember once that mail truck could not reach Murphy Dome before Mess Hall closed. Had chow at Army `D` Battery (Nike Hercules) which was no comparison. No wonder Army personnel were glad to be attached to Murphy Dome. Home it was not, but good comrads eased the assignment.

I would just like to say thank you for the great work you have done to preserve the memory of the now forgotten hero`s. I live close to the former Radar base, North Concord AFS, and have been intrigued by it ever since my first visit. Unfortunetly vandalsim has led to the properties closing to all traffic, but your site allwoed me to share with others what the site looks like, and learn more myself about it`s history. I wish it could be preserved, but only time will tell. Thank you again, for the great work! Ethan Hayes

This site is absolutely fantastic! I always thought (and my wife affirms) i was the only person on earth who notices things like old radar sites. Regarding P67B Richland IN on the satelite/topo listing; I have been to that site. It is quite visible from US 31 when travelling to Indy. Building is abandoned, but still painted pink, remnants of the dish are lying on the roof of the building. Dish is an elliptical screen dish about 10` across at the widest point. What appears to be the dish rotating machinery is lying on the ground on the side of the building. Keep up the good work!! Rich
