I am still a frequent visitor here at the website and am still deeply appreciative of the hard work and technical excellence which it represents. I was in Charleston, SC, recently on business and took the opportunity to drive through the old North Charleston Air Force Station radar site, where I served in the 792nd Radar Squadron in 73 and 74. It is now a Marine Corps Reserve facility, and many of the buildings are abandoned and falling badly into disrepair. The general layout and appearance was essentially unchanged from the old days, though, and it was quite a nostalgic experience. Most of my memories from there are quite fond. I would love to hear from any of my old comrades. Best wishes to all for a fine summer.

Ive modified the guestbook software to make life a little easier when saving older guestbooks. Its now separated by year & month automatically, cutting down on my maintenance time. Please let me know if you have any problems with the software mods. Gene

I visit the site every day hoping to find some old buddies and its great to see the activities in this guest book but how about spending some time and sign the site rosters at the sites you served at instead of listing them here. Call me old fashioned or lazy but it makes it eaiser to find you if I miss a few days due to work. You might find an old friend there.

Gene... You made a good point about signing in on the site roster. So many people sign the guestbook and list their assignments but those same names fail to show up on the site rosters. There is a very good web site on Korea and the radar sites at it covers the 502nd TCG as well as all the Air Force units that were in Korea. I met some old friends from it.

I am pleased to see the museum will include overseas radars. I have some mid-1970s photos of the 622nd Tactical Control Flight on deployment and at the site itself I will send along. I also think I have an old recall roster somewhere. If the museum goes so far, I have documents and a very few photos of the ELF-1 AWACS command in Saudi Arabia during the late 1980s, including what I think is a rare color patch of the ELF himself. Im also glad that Radomes decals are appearing on vintage and other vehicles. Perhaps well see some here in Route 66 country. Get your kicks .. join Radomes, Inc., and keep this site going.

Stationed with the 786th Radar Sq, Minot AFS,ND from Feb 1966-Jan 1968 and Mar 1971-Sep 1979, the 763rd Radar Sq, Lockport AFS,NY from Feb 1970-Mar 1971, and the 663rd Radar Sq, Hofn, Iceland from Feb 1969-Feb 1970. Radar maintenance was the best duty in the Air Force.

I have a Radomes decal on my 90 Ford Ranger pickup. Am saving the other one for my 48 Allis-Chalmers B, if I ever finish restoring it.

Im a full time ANG technician working at Roslyn ANG station (previously called Roslyn Filter Center) Long Island, NY! I hope that I can find someone who worked at this station during the late 40s,through the 50s! Id like to hear from anyone who has worked there, even someone who was there the first day it was built. I am looking for some early pictures of how the base looked like when it was built!!!

I was at Monkey Mtn VietNam 71-72, Kindsbach Germany 72-74 & Dry Hill AFB (Watertown NY) in the late 70s. Each place as a 276xx scope dope. Sir: I was stationed here in later 1955, 1956 and1957, Some of the pictures dont look right. Especially the aerial shot. I may have pictures of the 858th AC&W site. Dont expect anything soon. I am working on putting together an AEW&C/AWACS reunion in Okla City June, 2001. See webb page, dean-boys.com. Served in the USAF 1953 - 1957. TAC,ADC, and SAC. ADC in Japan on Sado Island with the 621st AC&W Command. SAC at Turner AFB. Albany GA. After 1957 my first employment was with Sperry Piedmont Co. in Charlottesville,VA division of Sperry Gyroscope Company, division of the Sperry Rand Corporation, Great Neck, NY. At Charlottesville we had subcontracts on the FPS-35, which I and others worked on for a long period of time. Just prior to completion of the contracts there was chance to transfer to field engineering school for quality control inspection and testing. There was a number of electronic technicians that made the transfer of which I was one. We were assigned to a number of site locations where the final installation and acceptance was completed. I was assigned to sites at Finley,ND and Sault St. Marie,MI .

Two cool Radomes static cling decals arrived in my mailbox, a small but nice member benefit. I affixed one on my 1971 Beetle window, a vintage machine itself. Usually after asking about the Bug, the Radomes sticker itself draws interest. If you are a radar veteran and are not a Radomes member, check it out. I have learned and seen things at this site I didnt know when I was on active radar duty more than 20 years ago. Help keep it going.
