Brought back old memories. I was an air surveilance operator (27350) (1969-1973) with the 632nd AC&W Radar Sqn-Roanoake Rapids AFS, NC; the 623 AC&W Sqn-Naha,OKI; and the 671st AC&W Radar Sqn-Boca Chica NAS,Key West, FLA. Again, thanks, Joe 05/31/2000 00:00:00 Name: Jim Mills I am still a frequent visitor here at the website and am still deeply appreciative of the hard work and technical excellence which it represents. I was in Charleston, SC, recently on business and took the opportunity to drive through the old North Charleston Air Force Station radar site, where I served in the 792nd Radar Squadron in 73 and 74. It is now a Marine Corps Reserve facility, and many of the buildings are abandoned and falling badly into disrepair. The general layout and appearance was essentially unchanged from the old days, though, and it was quite a nostalgic experience. Most of my memories from there are quite fond. I would love to hear from any of my old comrades. Best wishes to all for a fine summer. 05/30/2000 00:00:00 Name: Gene McManus - yer Webmaster Ive modified the guestbook software to make life a little easier when saving older guestbooks. Be sure you sign in to the Site Roster for the site(s) you were stationed at. Weve got tons of guestbook entries, and less than tons of roster entries. Getting into the roster helps a buddy find you. - Gene 05/21/2000 00:00:00 Name: John Tianen Gene... You made a good point about signing in on the site roster. So many people sign the guestbook and list their assignments but those same names fail to show up on the site rosters. Would it be possible to have some kind of reminder window pop up at the time someone signs the guestbook that directs them to the site roster? Regards, John Tianen 932nd AC&W Sqdn. and 656th Radar Sqdn. 05/21/2000 00:00:00 Name: Jim Hale It was nice looking at pics of Kotzebue AFS, Alaska 748th AC&W. I have some mid-1970s photos of the 622nd Tactical Control Flight on deployment and at the site itself I will send along. I also think I have an old recall roster somewhere. If the museum goes so far, I have documents and a very few photos of the ELF-1 AWACS command in Saudi Arabia during the late 1980s, including what I think is a rare color patch of the ELF himself. Im also glad that Radomes decals are appearing on vintage and other vehicles. Perhaps well see some here in Route 66 country. Get your kicks .. join Radomes, Inc., and keep this site going. 05/18/2000 00:00:00 Name: julius w mitchell Im looking for Fortuna and ND this is suppose to take me to the DowntownFortuna. Anyone else out there driving even-older (and original owner) cars now showing this organizational insignia? Gene, the decals and patch are great, and the website is awesome. But I wish all you ex-site folks who add to the Guestbook would also sign-in at your old squadrons roster page, too. The rosters are pretty sparse, considering how many of us have signed this Guestbook. What say? 05/03/2000 00:00:00 Name: Larry Litteral This is much better than fantastic. It is long overdue at filling a hungry void. Thank you for all your excellent work. 05/01/2000 00:00:00 Name: Gary Jacobs Two cool Radomes static cling decals arrived in my mailbox, a small but nice member benefit. I affixed one on my 1971 Beetle window, a vintage machine itself. Usually after asking about the Bug, the Radomes sticker itself draws interest. If you are a radar veteran and are not a Radomes member, check it out. I have learned and seen things at this site I didnt know when I was on active radar duty more than 20 years ago. Help keep it going. |
